The Art of Pull: Achieving Career Success with Twitter

eBranding Me and The Opportunities Project launch a new Workshop Series on using “The Art of Pull” to help soon-to-be graduates and young professionals successfully network with recruiters and employers to secure gainful employment.

The Opportunities Project and eBranding Me are joining forces to teach New York City job seekers how to use all the new tools available to them to achieve career success. Each seminar will focus on one particular tool that attendees can use to transform themselves into candidates sought after by multiple employers for their added value. The seminar series is called The Art of Pull because it focuses on a job search that attracts recruiters and employers to empowered candidates instead of the traditional method of simply applying to vacancy postings.

The third and final seminar, Achieve Career Success with Twitter, will focus on how to make the most of the micro-blogging service in relation to your job search. Topics discussed will include:

  • how to create a successful Twitter bio
  • how to use functions such as Reply, Direct Message, Re-Tweet, Hashtag to connect with the right people
  • how to properly manage lists to stay organized
  • how to participate in Twitter Chats to extend your network

The seminar series, titled “The Art of Pull”, began this past Tuesday with a workshop on how to “Achieve Career Success with Blogging”.

During the inaugural presentation in The Art of Pull series, I discussed the importance of making a blog “sticky”. It is important to provide your readers with incentives to return to your website and read future posts. Many industry experts like to use certain terminology to explain some “best practices” to achieve this goal. While many say to make a blog “Google-Friendly”, I have created a simple acronym to ensure growth:

The second seminar, Achieve Career Success with LinkedIn, will focus on how to best utilize one’s profile on the online professional networking website. Topics discussed will include

  • how to create a successful profile
  • how to use the LinkedIn database to research companies, opportunities, and potential colleagues
  • how to contribute to group discussions and expand your network
  • how to use LinkedIn’s advanced features for free
