The Opportunities Project and eBranding Me are joining forces to teach New York City job seekers how to use all the new tools available to them to achieve career success. Each seminar focuses on one particular tool that attendees can use to transform themselves into candidates sought after by multiple employers for their added value. In 2011, new college graduates are facing multiple obstacles in their efforts to launch their first careers, including record student loan debt, prolonged unemployment, and growing employer dissatisfaction with their abilities. Because of expanded job searches coupled with large loan payments, most new graduates will not break even on their investment in their bachelor’s degree more than a decade after they graduate.

Start a Blog | Crowdsource the Best Advice

In early October, Brazen Careerist, an online network of young professionals, launched a unique function: Network Roulette.

The plug-in, aimed at helping users build and manage their network, is described by Brazen as “online speed dating that’s actually useful!”

The concept is simple, combine a real life networking event – elevator pitches and all – with online networking, add a touch of speed dating, and the result: Network Roulette. Each of the 400 participants logged on to the BETA session and answered two simple questions in less than 140-characters:

  1. What are you looking for?
  2. What are you providing?

After reviewing the basics of creating and maintaining a positive online presence to aid in one’s job search, Petri will highlight examples of successful and some not-so-successful uses of popular online networking tools. By strategically mixing case studies and current news/trends with a dynamic presenting style and visually appealing graphics, Petri will be sure to inspire students to take responsibility for their online actions.

Dani Ticktin Koplik of dtkResources saw a need to “prepare our newest generation of workers to assume the mantel of leadership in the 21st Century.” The full day, free event is designed to inform attendees about how to take their first step towards a successful and rewarding career.


eBranding Me was approached by Ms. Koplik to contribute to the education of college students, recent graduates and young professionals hoping to get a head start in their job search. Our Founder/CEO, Keith Petri, has agreed to act as an expert on personal branding at the event.
